Hungary is one of the most popular destinations for Chinese new energy vehicle companies to "go overseas" to Europe. In 2017, BYD's first electric vehicle factory in Europe was officially established in Komárom, in the northwest of Hungary, bringing passengers a new clean and pollution-free green travel experience. In 2021, China's Enjie Group invested in the construction of a lithium battery separator production base in Debrecen, Hungary, providing 440 jobs for the local community. In 2022, NIO announced the construction of its first overseas factory in Hungary, which will become the company's manufacturing, service, and research and development center in Europe. In the same year, CATL also signed a land pre-purchase agreement in Debrecen, marking the official launch of CATL's Hungarian factory project. The project covers an area of 221 hectares, with an investment of 7.34 billion euros, and plans for a battery production capacity of 100 gigawatt-hours, which will have a positive demonstration effect on the cooperation between China and Hungary, as well as China and Europe in the field of new energy.
